As i can recall now i saw such a reference in the interwiew published in Zvi Har`El`s page in the WWW. " J. Verne revisited" by R. Sherard, 1903 with the sous - title names in fiction.

Je  me souviens d'une déclaration de Verne affirmant que le nom du
personage dont il était le plus fier est "Phileas Fogg".
 Ai-je rêvé cela ? Si non quelqu'un peut-il me préciser la source exacte de
cette affirmation.
