The history of Fogg's competitors is more than a century old and a few of
the "Phileade" runners were mentioned in others postings: Bly, Cocteau,
Palin, for example.
It's a long story with books published after every run. Some journalists
and scholars even have already studied this subject. The first article is
from 1926 already: Lecoq, Jean – Les recordmen du Tour du monde. Le Petit
journal illustré, 11 April 1926, p. 173. Later, in 1976, François Compère
published a list of more than 30 runners: Compère, François – Les coureurs
du tour du monde. Revue des Lettres modernes (Paris, Minard), série Jules
Verne, vol. 1, no 456, p. 169-175. He doesn't mention Palin and Mossé who
did the race later.
If anybody is interested in a photocopy of these articles, please let me know.
