To give further informations:
"Le Titan moderne" was not a novel, but a collection of 48 scientific notes written by Badoureau between april and october 1888, on a demand of Verne. The "chapitre supplementaire" is an extract of these notes, two are on errors comitted by Verne in his monn novels.. Badoureau (who met Verne exactly in the Societe Industrielle and who was introduced by Verne to the Amiens Academy in november 1885 - or 86, I forgot) got 2.500 F (ca. 7.500 EUR actually), paid for one half by Verne, and by Hetzel on the other.
In January 1889, Badoureau published "Les Sciences experimentales en 1889" (Quantin) a highly complicated book (sorry, for non-physicians like me) with some philosophical ideas in which he mentions Jules Verne, pp. 89-90, for his ideas of submarines and flying machines; a rather unhabituel manner for a scientist in late 19th century!
