Interesting question, Norm! I had a similar discussion
at a swedish web-group; questioning if young readers
(age of 12-19)does read old classics.

For myself, I read "From earth to moon" (in swedish)
on my free will at a age of 12, so I guess your
question is universal; does young people read Jules
Verne at all in the world by their free will?

Well, the kids who can read use to fancy Harry Potter
in these days. There is also a lot of liking books in
the Fantasy-style. But I have found on the internet a
few essays written by young readers about the books of
Jules Verne, so if they ever was forced by the school
they really liked the books.

Funny enough, at my local library, there is only girls
(age 13-15) asking for Jules Verne. Does this tell us
anything about his books or the lack of interest from
the boys?

Well, it's difficult to judge anything in general, but
I have my ideas!

Best regards
Peter
