In my case, I read most of the first tier novels in early teens (Robur cycle
my favorite). Then as the IO Evans books came out in paperback (late 60's)
at the airports in Miami and Boston, I read them one by one on the flights
back and forth to boarding school. I quite enjoyed those trips. One Spring
break, I went to see Haley Mills in In Search of the Castaways when I was a senior
in high school and was probably the only one in the audience over 10 not a
parent (Verne just wasn't date bait). I came down with chicken pox exactly at
the incubation period away from that exposure. I feel I have suffered for
