I use genealogical databases to look up information on people with unusual
names. Using the surname Ribaucourt on
http://www.ancestry.com did not turn up
a lot of hits but you might connect with someone who is tracing the line which
includes this artist. That site ant
http://www.genealogy.com have strong
records for the U.S. but are fairly weak for other countries. You might also
check
http://www.familysearch.org which is the Mormon site and they have
something called the IGI with international records as submitted by their
church members. Each of these can develop into leads for other information.
Some people, especially artists, just don't have much coverage in the library
reference volumes.
