REPLY: Which "last scenes" are you speaking of? Every version I've seen ends with the moon capsule being retrieved and towed away at sea, but at least one movie book asserts there were additional scenes in which the Selenite (which had clung to the moonship on its way back to Earth) is presented to the same group of savants as in the opening. Have you, Alain (or anyone else in this Forum, for that matter), actually viewed such additional footage?
