Dear friends,

Here are some things that came up when I discussed the trip to Amiens with
my friends in the Dutch JV Society.

1) In the programme of the activities in Amiens in March 2005, one of the
items is a "Soirée de gala au Cirque Jules Verne", translated in English
as "Official reception". I was wondering if this implies any specific
dresscode (white tie, black tie, tenue de ville)? This is the kind of
thing that may vary from country to country, and I'd like to make sure we
don't show up over- or underdressed.

2) There is one event that we would have liked to see included in the
programme: an international JV book market. This gathering would be a
great opportunity to get foreign editions for your own collection, and to
sell your own excess materials. Also, the various organizations could sell
their publications. I think for some people a book market could be an
extra incentive to go to Amiens. And besides financial and collecting
profit, a book market is another nice way to get in touch with people.

I did propose this item in March this year, but apparently there was no
time to include it in the programme. Perhaps we can find a way after all,
possibly on the Wednesday afternoon?

3) For Wednesday afternoon, one option is "General meetings of Jules Verne
Associations". I wonder how many of the associations will actually have
their general meeting then and there? The Dutch JV Society, for one, will
have its meeting in April, in the Netherlands. If we would have our
general assembly in Amiens, quite a few members could not attend it, and
that's not a good thing for a society.

Or do I misunderstand the purpose of this event, and is the plan to have a
meeting with members of all societies together?

That's all for now, more discussion will probably follow!

Best regards,
Garmt de Vries,
Dutch Jules Verne Society.
