Well, this is news to me I must say. According to the Movie Insider Sam
Raimi and Josh Donen are remaking this for release in 2009 for New Line
Cinema. What's interesting is the Plot Synopsis:
The original 1954 movie was about a 19th century adventure to find a
mysterious creature that had been attacking ships. The update will more
closely examine the background of Captain Nemo and his prisoners.
