Dear friends,

I have added a new category to my overview of translated JV titles:
interviews. (See http://www.phys.uu.nl/~gdevries/languages/languages.cgi)

It is of course debatable whether an interview with Jules Verne is a "work
by Jules Verne", but since a bunch of interviews is listed in the
bibliography on Zvi's site, and since I discovered that a 1889 interview
was translated into Japanese a month or two after publication, I thought
it was worthwhile to include them in my database.

For the time being, I have added the interviews listed at
<http://jv.gilead.org.il/biblio/interviews.html>, i.e., the interviews
included in the book by Jean-Michel margot and Daniel Compere. (I noticed,
by the way, that one article in the section "Around the World with Gaston
Stiegler" is missing from the website.)

The only interview I added so far, is the one by the Dutchman Jan Feith,
published in Dutch in 1925, and in French in 2003 (BSJV 145).

The translations I have found so far, are:
- translations from German, English and Italian to French, in the book by
Margot/Compere;
- the translations to French and Spanish at
<http://jv.gilead.org.il/biblio/interviews.html>;
- two translations to Polish, published by the PTJV;
- a translation in "Jules Verne. Stimmen und Deutungen zu seinem werk"
(Dehs/Jukerjurgen);
- a Japanese translation, cited by my correspondent Takehito Shiina.

While I'm at it, I should perhaps also add the speeches listed at
<http://jv.gilead.org.il/biblio/speech.html>. Of these texts, I have
already listed "La Pologne" and "Les Méridiens et le Calendrier" under
"essays/non-fiction". (When is a text an essay that has been read, and
when is it a speech that has been published?) I know that the 1893 speech
for the Lycée des jeunes filles has been published in English in Haining's
JV Companion. I myself am planning to have the "Discours lors de
l.inauguration du Cirque municipal" translated to Dutch. Perhaps there are
other published translations of speeches?

My questions to you all:

1) Do you know of any other translations of the interviews listed in the
bibliography on Zvi's site? I can imagine that some of the JV societies
out there have published interviews in translation.

2) Do you know of any other original interviews that should be included in
this overview?

3) Do you know of any translations of speeches?

I'd be glad to receive contributions from you all.

Cheers,
Garmt.
