Lionel.

It's sometimes difficult to stay serene and calm when you speak of subjects you consider as awful, but I think, as most of you, that we should avoid polemics and personnalities. So I'm sorry that Lionel, speaking of a very real problem gave way to his ardent temperament; he was certainly not right doing so inspite of his good intentions, but I think he acknowledgend the consequences. On the other hand, and I'm sure that it is in Zvi's intention, it's necessary that we speak of all aspects concerning Jules Verne, his work and its reception, even conflicts and difficulties. Let's start again in another, but realistic spirit.

Dear Ian
I'd like to register emphatic support for your intervention, which I've just seen. Personal arguments and insults are always unpleasant on a list. In the present case, they also tarnish the memory of the JVF's visionary and exceptionally generous founder, and that is surely intolerable.

I met Zvi twice in Amiens and was impressed by the generosity and energy
that he displayed in supporting his web site. His intention was to
facilitate scholarly and fraternal interchange on the life and oeuvre of
Jules Verne, and certainly not as a vehicle for personal (and public)
grievances that show no respect for our departed friend Zvi. Am I alone
in deploring this insult to the memory of our regretted Zvi? If not,I
would welcome postings of support that the real purpose of the Forum is
as Zvi would have wished it, to promote our understanding of Verne the
man and the author and not as a medium for personal attacks.
If my view is shared by other Forum members, please register your
support. There is much that can be achieved creatively and much that can
be lost by abusing the memory of of a true Verne enthusiast who worked
so hard to create friendship and who would certainly be saddened to see
his vision and talent abused in recent postings.
