Many thanks, Bill!

This is great, as it is now 150 years ago he went to this journey in Scandinavia.

Now I do know why there aren't any great novels like Jules Verne's anymore: he had weeks to travel from Stockholm to Gausta Mountain - myself only need less than 15 hours by car. Weeks of wonderful impressions beats the way we travel today. Eventhough he had a lot of armchair traveling when writing his novels, the journey itself was important in the novel.

Best regards,
Peter Harold

I am pleased to announce that I’ve published my translation, with critical apparatus, of Joyous Miseries of Three Travellers in Scandinavia on http://www.ibiblio.org/julesverne/JoyousMiseriescompact.pdf. A revised edition, incorporating constructive comments and suggestions, will be available shortly.

Best wishes,

Bill
