Of course it can and it does... and of course we know that.

My files are properly formatted Word files with the French "original"
text... but of course I haven't checked this against original hardcopies --
neither the text nor the count.

In fact, I don't actually bother which novel is the longest and if I could
I would remove my former message, because -- I admit -- my count is as
needless as your rebuke !
