In fact, reading books is of great help in learning languages. I had a
Swedish translation of Mathias Sandorf, which Ireally wanted to read. I
already was interested in Swedish, so I read a grammar book, and with a
dictionary next to me, I read Mathias Sandorf. Now I am able to read
Swedish rather well, and I can speak it a little too. So I believe that
for English-speaking people it should not be too difficult to learn
French (in any case to read Jules Verne in French).
