Hello everyone!
Here’s the latest regarding my search for a copy of Mathias Sandorf.
Given the very high price of existing copies and considering the fact
that I’m not a collector, only a reader, I am now considering a library
loan. A local antiquarian has provided the information quoted below.
<< 1. Via an OCLC/First Search I know there are copies of NY: Munro,
1885 edition in the Library of Congress, Harvard and the Cleveland
Public Library and that the last two institutions do supply the book on
OCLC Inter Library Loan [OCLC ILL] This Munro also appears in Bowker
American Fiction list [Seaside Library, vol. 101, no. 2039; 3 vols in
one; illustrated, 33cm] One assumes this is in English; all indications
are it is. >>
<< 2. Via a search of the EUREKA database [part of something called
RLIN] I learn that there is a microfilm copy of Mathias Sandorf in the
British Library/London. >>
<< 3. Also on EUREKA I find that the New York Public Library has Mathias
Sandorf Part I: The Conspirators of Trieste; The entry is unclear and it
may also have Pt II: Captives... The citation is to Sampson, Low,
1889. 2 vols. illus., 19cm. >>
Before I contact the above libraries, I would very much appreciate any
comments, thoughts and recommendations you may have. The saga continues
. . .
Thanks,
Gabe Bohm
