Jules Verne n'a jamais ιtι juif, c'est d'ailleurs au cours de sa vie un problθme qu'il eut avec un polonais qui voulait absolument lui faire endosser cette religion. Au demeurant je prie le forum de noter qu'aucune trace d'antisιmitisme ne vient troubler mes propos, mon propre mari ιtant juif.
Mais dire et ιcrire sur le Net que Verne ιtait juif est aussi stupide que de dire que Napolιon Bonaparte ιtait musulman.
Certaines personnes sιvissant sur Internet sont tout de mκme trθs ιtranges

     In the Internet page : "The life and work of J. V." by Prasard Philips (I think), with the following adress: "http://avery.med.virginia.edu/~mtp0f/flips/history.html" i saw this information:
    "Jules Gabriel Verne was born in 1828, in Nantes, France. Jule`s parents were of a sefaring tradition, one factor which influenced his writings."

    Does anybody of you has an idea about both of the presumed facts? The sefaring tradition of his family and the relevant influence in his writing?

    I have no such a reference in any other J.V`s biography.
    I only have an indirect reference, in Archives no161, of a Marc Soriano`s article in L`Arc[Aix-en Provece] no 29, 1966 who seems to believe that we ought to adapt J.V.`s books, if we adress them to children, for many reasons and among them his antisemitism(?)

    Tell me if you know better because i haven`t read the article myself and perhaps i misunderstood the summary.
