When I was Iceland several years ago for a space art workshop, I
recreated (more or less) the journey from Reykjavik to Snaeffels
Jokull. The landscape was just as Verne described it, especially
around the town of Stapi and the mountain itself. I felt as though I
were actually in a Jules Verne novel! The people of Iceland seem to
be rather pleased about Snaeffels' notoriety--its connection to the
book seems to always be mentioned whenever its name comes up.
