In any case, it's important when you use images or texts that another
person has put together. But what about scans of very well-known pictures?
The portraits of JV on my page are from someone's site, but I can't
remember whose. I downloaded them before I thought of creating a JV page.
I could have scanned them myself, or taken them from one of the other
pages showing these pictures.

That's a good point. I really don't want to be petty, and go on saying
'hey, those are mine!', but indeed, a teacher should teach something about
this subject.

Once you put pictures on the Web, you allow others to use them for their
own purposes. But some courtesy here wouldn't harm.
