There's almost something to this! I heard a story at NASA headquarters many
years ago that I'd dearly love to be true (but fear is merely anecdotal)
that when the great debate was under way as to where the US should establish
its manned launch site--the contenders were Texas and Florida--someone got
tired of all the arguing, left the room and came back later with a copy of
>From the Earth to the Moon in his hand. He tossed the book onto the table
and said, "Florida was good enough for Jules Verne!" And the rest is history.
