Are you aware that Walter James Miller translated this missing chapter
in his ANNOTATED TWENTY THOUSAND LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA (Crowell, 1976).
The restored text from this book, less annotations, was published at
least twice more, including a recent publication by the Naval Institute
Press (the publisher made famous for publishing THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER
by Tom Clancy as its first fiction work).

Have you had a chance to compare your translation with his?

James
