NAJVS annual meeting details ...

(my apologies to those who've received this message twice)

The North American Jules Verne Society Inc. is holding its 1999 Annual
Meeting the first weekend of June (4-6) in the Chicago area. Planned
activities include: guest speakers (Walter James Miller, Rick Walter,
Thierry Roullier and others have expressed interest in making presentations)
and a tour of the Auditorium Theatre building (a central point in the story
"Le Testament d'un excentrique"). Also there will be an opportunity to meet
face to face with other Verne enthusiasts and trade, purchase or sell Verne
related items.

In a previous e-mail I had mentioned that the details were still being
worked out and now I have them to offer. The meeting will be held at the
Courtyard by Marriott Hotel located in Highland Park, IL, details about this
hotel can be found at their web site (http://courtyard.com/CHIHP/) or by
contacting them at +1 (847) 831-3338. We plan to meet at this hotel on
Friday night at 7:00 p.m. CDT and go to dinner at a nearby French
restaurant. The following morning, probably starting at 9:00 a.m., we will
be meeting in one of the hotel's meeting rooms. Late Saturday afternoon, we
will journey into the city of Chicago to go to the Auditorium Theatre.
After the tour, we will return to Highland Park to go to Henry Sharton's
home for a backyard barbecue (a NAJVS meeting tradition). The following
Sunday we will complete any unfinished presentations, hold the Society's
business meeting and adjourn.

The cost for attending this meeting is free to members of the NAJVS, and a
$20 dollar (US) fee will be required of non-members. This fee will then be
turned into a Society membership for this individual in the 1999 - 2000
membership year.
