If I might take a poke at this....
It seems to me that the earth might not be a womb, but rather a form
that has "invaginated" the cold hard metal of the gun. As to what the
shell might be, I am not so sure, but when it is orgasmically "set off"
it is not ejaculated into the earth, but into space, where it is
destined to rendezvous with . . . the moon.
Ah ha!
