Jerry,
The translation contained in the Vincent Parke edition is horrible, and I'm
not yet sure where it came from.
The Sampson Low version, translated by Mrs. Cashel Hoey (facsimile in the
Gregg 1975 reprint), is much better.
The version published in _The Boy's Own Paper_ as "Captain Len Guy" is
apparently terrible too, but I have not yet seen it (Jean-Michel is making
me a photocopy to examine).
