Re George's enquiry --
I hesitate to say this because I have not seen this version myself, but the
synopses in fairly reliable reference books indicate that Omar Sharif's Nemo
is not simply shown at the end (as in Verne's novel.) Instead he is visible
to the viewers throughout -- it begins with a nuclear accident aboard the
NAUTILUS killing all the crew except Nemo (and forcing him to dock it at
Lincoln Island), then him witnessing the arrival of the balloonists (and from
there all goes as usual).
