Please be careful in using (any) English translations of L'ILE
MYSTERIEUSE describing the death of Nemo. Hetzel asked JV to modify
that part of the novel to better suit the needs (in Hetzel's views) of
the reafing French family. The manuscript, the "pre-original" version
in the MAGASIN D'EDUCATION ET DE RECREATION are the best views of what
JV intended to write.

And the recent discussions about BAD TRANSLATIONS in this Forum should
make everybody careful in using the English translations and trust
them !

TODAY IS JV's 182th ANNIVERSARY.
