The following have been cleared as far as copyright clearance goes from
Project Gutenberg. If there are
better translations, let me know and I will defer to those. Centre of the
Earth is already being worked on from the Wordsworth Edition pending
copyright clearance.

800 Leagues on the Amazon P1 Raft Jules Verne Norman Wolcott 02/03/00
800 Leagues on the Amazon P2 Raft/Crypto Jules Verne N Wolcott 02/03/00
[P1 was translated by W. J. Gordon, publi'shed by Charles Scribners and
sons, New Yok, 1881."
P2 is a reprint by A.L. Burt, NY, in a "Boys Series" appears to be same
translation buut also includes "Giant Raft". Est date 1905]

Dick Sand, or A Captain at 15 Jules Verne Norman Wolcott
02/03/00
[A. L. Burt Reprint, no date est 1905 picture of boy on front covver]

Five Weeks in a Balloon Jules Verne Norman Wolcott 02/03/00
This one Art Evans has already approved.

Floating Island/Pearl of the Pacific Jules Verne Norman Wolcott 02/03/00
[Hurst and Co. publishers, no date, est 1905. Picture of boy running
carrying a box on cover]

The Purchase of the North Pole Jules Verne Norman Wolcott 02/03/00
[This an ACE paperback. It may be cut version as the size is not
impressive. ACE published 8 or 10 Verne novels in the 1960's, many of the
lesser known ones, and they are all free of copyright as ACE did not place
any Copyright on their reprints. However the paper is very poor, already
dark brown and collectors may not want to handle them because the books may
fall apart. On the other hand if the book has already decomposed, why not
scan or xerox the remains..?]

The Omnibus Jules Verne Jules Verne Norman Wolcott 02/03/00
[ Lippincott, no date est 1931. No copyright on verso. This was just for
"The Blockade Runners" already on Zvi's site, but not on PG. The
translation on the JVF is apparently from Lippincott. I do not know of any
other translation--There is an 1880's version together with the Begum's
Fortune on ABEBOOKS which may be the original. ]

Important note on copyright: According to PG, books published in US before
1988 that do not have a complete copyright on them are public domain! This
frees up many early 20th century editions or reprints of JV.
