The first two chapters are available on my Web site as MSWord documents:
http://www.geocities.com/norm_90/ This is from the ACE version. "complete
and unabridged". Proofing is invited. If errors are found please email
back
to me at nwolcott~at~kreative.net with corrections highlighted in yellow
highlighter tool if using
Word or Wordperfect. This book was heavily foxed, and was OCR with OP8,
mostly 300 dpi greyscale. (I will need a 1G Pentium for 400 dpi greyscale).
This was done mainly as an experiment using geocities. It took a while to
find my way around. I found it best to avoid their "easy" methods. Using
"Advanced HTML" for example I found the simplest, as you have a bare bones
interface to the HTML. Also they offer plain ftp uploads. I created the
page in MSWord, saved as HTML, then adjusted the URL's to match their
location on geocities. They have a smooth preview mode so you can check
your work as you go. One problem I found was when I had to replace a file
because it
was in double columns, the preview mode referred to the old file. I had to
close out MSexplorer to get a new load. The ftp worked fine however. The
main problem was obtaining a valid URL. Tip: let them assign a URL then
change it later if you don't like it. Saves lots of time, as every name I
chose for hald an hour was rejected.
I would be interested in any information members may have about other
free sites. Geocities offers 15 meg.
Art Evans--If this is enough to identify the source of the book, well and
good. With your approval I will continue.
