I can't argue with your point, especially with the "mushroom" cloud ending


of the movie and Aronnax's statement about maybe the world not being ready


for such power, a statement that was surely meant for the 1950s.


Nonetheless, the atomic power replacement for electricity is a near perfect


update to Verne's electricity.  But for the ending, it was not shoehorned


into the movie.
