This makes sense since so many people associate Zvi's site as the Internet
portal to all things JV. Plus it sounds as if he can set up a FTP site
which will allow people to up/download files with ease.

GeoCities also won't allow you to use them as a parking lot for your files
to be accessed from other sites. They want to have their ads appear every-
where since that is where they make their money. Besides, 15 MB wouldn't
hold many scanned pages. My dialup ISP gave us just 15 MB and we filled that
very quickly. I am glad that I now have a server with essentially unlimited
storage space.

We should establish a list of file criteria so that people who wish to par-
ticipate could begin submitting scans. From our previous discussions, it
would appear that desirable criteria would include:

black and white (not greyscale) scans at 300 dpi

files saved as TIFF (tagged image file format)

file names which adhere to the minimum Windows criteria with eight
letters in the name, a period, and a three-letter extension

the file names should not rely on a case-sensitive structure and
should begin with a letter and include the page number scanned

I would imagine that a few other things would be desirable:

a file with a JPG scan of the cover

possibly files with scans of some interior pictures

a text file with information known about the edition in question
        in a standard format

These files could be associated with the page scans in some kind of
folder structure.

I have received a complete photocopy of the Cassell edition of MISTRESS
BRANICAN and have a reliable scanner. If I were contributing, that would
be my first project. Once we have some guidelines set up, we can begin
to work.
