I am seeking information for a newspaper article on whether Jules Verne
based his Around the World in 80 Days character, Phineas Fogg, on George
Francis "Citizen" Train.
I know Train completed an earlier trip around the world, and after Nellie
Bly beat the "80 days", Train made another trip coming in at 67 days
to/from Tacoma, Washington. He later made another trip.
If anyone has information on the Train/Verne/Fogg connection, please e-mail
me at editor~at~tacomadailyindex.com prior to May 20, 2000.
Thank you,
Steve Brown
