It might interest you that Verne briefly discusses Train, Nelly Bly, and 


Bly's rival Elizabeth Bisland in a later novel CLAUDIUS BOMBARNAC, in which 


one very caricatured character is trying to circumnavigate the world in 40 


days. (Verne does not mention Fogg or Train's claims to have inspired him, 


though.)
