A complete Publishing-History-in-English for this novel can be found in THE
JULES VERNE ENCYCLOPEDIA by Steve Michaluk and Brian Taves (Scarecrow
Press). The original English translation (anonymous, first published by
Griffith & Farren in 1871) was not protected by copyright in the U.S. and
appeared in innumerable editions from many different publishing houses in
the 19th century alone.

Samples of the initial critical reception are reprinted in the Oxford UP
paperback edition (William Butcher, translator), which is currently
available in most large book stores.

Best regards,

RICK.
