The island of "Clermont-Tonnerre" is mentioned by JV in "The Mysterious
Island" Part I, Chapter XXI, and it is mentioned in 20K, Part I, Chapter 19.
It is part of the Tuamotu Archipelago and was perhaps named after the French
politician Stanislas Clermont-Tonnerre (1757-1792) who was murdered during
the events of the French Revolution. Its current name is Reao Island. This
current name appears in Butcher's 20K translation as published by Oxford UP.
