Guys, and Ron in particular:
This is getting interesting, and I have two strands of thought about
bringing Ron's atlas to a wider audience which of course depend on what, if
anything, Ron would like to do - after all, his atlas is naturally his
copyright and so far has been an exclusive limited edition for friends. He
is under no obligation to make it generally available, and his rights and
wishes must be respected.
There are, of course, various possibilities which have been discussed for
using Ron's atlas to aid Garmt's and Sean's projects. The question is, Ron,
would you be happy to make your work available to a wider audience?
If so, there are two possible options:
1. A small-scale conventional reprint, which presumably could be sold by
Ron if he wishes. This would need to be paid for up front, but presumably
could recoup its costs.
2. A PDF reprint which could be hosted on a web site and freely
redistributed, subject, naturally, to Ron's copyright and therefore
commercial use would be prohibited without his permission.
Assuming Ron were to agree, then option 2, while not attracting any
financial remuneration, would make the publication available to the widest
audience, and would not affect the status of the original limited edition.
If Ron is agreeable, if Walter lends his atlas to Sean, and if Sean can get
high quality scans made and sent to me, ideally on a CD-R, I would be happy
to rework this into a PDF version and host it on the JVS(GB) site with a
suitable page dedicated to the author. A suggestion, Ron, you may like to
consider - and I will not be offended if it does not meet with your
approval.

If it will help, I happen to have copy # 30 of Ron's Atlas, which I am
willing to lend to Sean. If that will get him started, maybe everybody
else's technical suggestions can get Ron's work back into print. Let me
know, Sean! Walter James Miller <wjm2~at~nyu.edu>
