As an observer, I've been interested in the mapping project and woudl
suport the same -perhaps at some point, hard copies could be available?
I can't print from the computer as yet. Anyway, the last post by Stuart
Williams proposes additional maps to include possible tourist sites that
I might be able to help with a bit. He probably meant mostly in France,
but here in Florida, there are sites including Jules Verne Park in
Tampa, the historical plaque and the streets named for characters. There
is the Bok singing tower -Bok being one of Verne's publishers in the US,
the archives of which include some correspondance, I understand. There
is the Phineas (sic) Fogg bar in Orlando, together with the (former, now
probably permanently defunct) 20K ride at Disney (although they may put
in an Atlantis ride), and a small Nautilus model in EPCOT, and the JV
train (from Back to the Future series) at Universal. There is some
mention of Verne among the exhibits at Cape Canaveral as well. While
these are more frivolous than the voyage maps, and not three-star items
by any means, they might be considered for inclusion on a tourist map.
Yours, David McCallister
