My first attempt at scanning from Ron Miller's Limited Edition Extraordinary
Voyages has been posted online.

You can find "Map of the Voyage Made, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" at

Full Resolution (approx 8.5 x 11 inches, 2988 x 1908 pixels, 1.7MB) at
http://www.oceansonline.com/verne/ron_miller_atlas/miller_20Kworldmap.jpg

You may want to start with the smaller sizes.

A 25% version (approx 17-inch screen size, 147kb) can be found here:

http://www.oceansonline.com/verne/ron_miller_atlas/miller_20Kworldmap_25.jpg

A 50% version (501kb) can be found here:

http://www.oceansonline.com/verne/ron_miller_atlas/miller_20Kworldmap_50.jpg

I would appreciate any feedback on quality, size preferences, compression
preferences (i.e. jpg, gif, png, bmp, ???) and other helpful hints or
suggestions.

The image was scanned using a Canon CanoScan N656U scanner set at 300dpi
resolution. Some "touch up" was done in ArcSoft PhotoStudio2000, basically
increasing contrast to make the blacks blacker and the whites whiter. The
size reductions were done in Microsoft Image Composer, for no reason other
than wanting to see how the maps looked in a different software package. The
whole process took about 15 minutes so it's pretty snappy.

Your comments are appreciated.

And thanks again to Ron for allowing me to scan them and Walter for
providing the rare atlas.
