Jules Verne wrote "Voyage en Angleterre et en Ecosse" in 1859, after a trip
to Britain and Scotland with his friend Aristide Hignard. The manuscript
was kept by the family Verne until it was sold to the Municipalité de
Nantes with almost all other Verne manuscripts. Christian Robin published
it in 1989 in Paris (le cherche-midi éditeur) with the title "Voyage à
reculons en Angleterre et en Ecosse", different from the title on the
manuscrpt where "à reculons" is missing. The first title of "César
Cascabel" was "Un voyage à reculons".

Janice Valls-Russell, with consultation of Bill Butcher, translated it into
English. "Backwards to Britain" was published in 1992 by Chambers in
Edinburgh and New York.
