Generating thumbnails is a snap for me using Dreamweaver-Fireworks in
combination. There is a macro supplied that automatically creates web pages
of images in a folder and converts them and resizes them all with the click
of one button. I can send these to Stuart to use separately or however he
likes.

All the maps are black and white, mostly, there is some grayscale. I'll look
at GIF versus JPG. My experience with GIF files, though, is that they don't
print as well, but that could be user-error. I think we'll avoid PNG until
it's more widely known.

I think the PDF is important so that someone could download the entire Atlas
as a book and print it out. I'm not a big PDF fan but it does control the
formatting for printing. Web pages tend to be all over the place depending
on the browser and its settings. We could also make a ZIP file available
with all the maps AND we could make CDs available.

I fully support Stuart's proposal and think it's a good plan. Let me proceed
further with scanning and we can go from there.

I truly believe this Atlas has tremendous value to anyone interested in
Verne at any level. Ron has done an incredible job. One "downside" of the
Atlas is that it makes me realize how little I know about much of Verne's
work!

Thanks to all!

Sean
