Good evening, I thought that I'd better just "log in" so to speak and
introduce myself. My name is Harry Hayfield and I'm from Ceredigion
in West Wales (52° 16' North 4° 1' West) and have been interested in
Monsieur Verne since 1986 by the BBC's transmission of "Around the
World with Willy Fog". It was very useful indeed as I was in high
school at the time and was able to answer a question about timezones.
Since then Willy Fog 2 has been shown in both 1993 and most recently
in 1998 (Journey to the Centre of the Earth) and 1999 (20,000 Leagues
Under the Sea).

In 1996, I was asked to join a local theatre group and in 1997 wrote
a script based on "Around the World in Eighty Days" as a submission.
It wasn't chosen but I will post it and the follow up "Moonshot" in
the Files section for members to read and I'll like opinions as well.
I know that they don't follow the stories accurately but they give
the impression of the story.

In 1999, following the second showing of Willy Fog 2, it disappeared
from British screens but with the approaching millenium, the BBC
showed Michael Palin's effort which was recorded in 1984 and when
2000 Today came along they had cameras in all of Phileas's visits.

2000 saw the British Television premiere of "20,000 Leagues Under the
Sea" with Michael Caine as Captain Nemo, compared to the Willy Fog
version I thought that Mr. Caine played the role admirably

I've only just now started collecting the videos via
eBay.com / .co.uk and would strongly recommend it as a site for Verne
books and videos
