Planet of the Apes

Hello fellow Vernians,
With the current re-release of "Planet of the Apes", would anyone care
to comment on any correlation between the movie and Verne's beliefs in the
"Darwin Theory" Could the author of "Planet" have read Jules Verne - perhaps
³Le Village Aérien² As I recall Evans had translated the story in the early
60's.
