Dear Friends,
I wish to express my opinion in the matter. I strongly support the view that
messages which are originally sent to the forum are most often of public
interest, and the responses to the messages are generally of interest not only
to the original sender, but to the general public, since they contribute
information that the original sender didn't have, and presumably many other
readers from our diverse forum don't have. Since this is my opinion, and I am
happy this is also the opinion of the majority of the responders so far, I
configured the mail distribution automaton to enforce it: You may notice that
with every message you get, you receive the e-mail header "Reply-To: Jules
Verne Forum <jvf~at~math.technion.ac.il>". This makes a normal reply go to the
forum, as I hope, most people mean. Only if you want to send a personal reply,
which, I hope, should be rare, you have to change the recipient address on your
e-mail. It is clear that people who are interested just in a specific subject,
and not in the broad range of discussions in the forum, may decide to read the
forum discussions, by thread or by subject, at the forum's web site, rather
then to feel that they are swarmed by e-mail.
Best wishes for a beautiful summer,
Zvi.
