Brian et al,

Nobody ever expressed a concern, most likely because it is not widely
known that Nemo was of Indian descent. But, since we are on the
subject, that is going to change with the film adaptation of Alan Moore
and Kevin O'Neill's "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" comic book
series slated for sometime in 2003.

According to the current entry which features Sean Connery as Allan
Quatermain at http://www.imdb.com/Title?0311429

Naseeruddin Shah will be playing Captain Nemo

According to his screen credits, this looks to be his first appearance
in a non-Indian film.

But note that the information at the IMDb is preliminary as: "Since this
project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to
change or could be removed completely."

For those who aren't familiar with Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill's "The
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" comic book series, you can find out
some basic information here regarding the second volume of the series
which is currently coming out.

You can see Kevin O'Neill's take on Captain Nemo on this page.

There are also numerous fan sites dedicated to the work of Alan Moore
(author) and Kevin O'Neill (illustrator) if you merely place their names
into a search engine.
