Dear Ms Newton,
Any photo in a book published more than 60 or 70 years ago will be out
of copyright eg the portrait in the Livre de Poche edition, which is
taken from the 19c Hetzel editions, or all the photos in M Allotte de la
Fuÿe's _Jules Verne_.
Incidentally, what will the subject of your programme?
Best regards,
Bill

Subject: Jules Verne Photo help
Hello,
I'm having much difficulty contacting anyone at the Jules Verne Society
in Paris. I'm told that they do not have email or fax. Does anyone have
a telephone number there? I'm writing from a documentary production
company in the states. We are trying to get permission to use some
portraits of Jules Verne in an upcoming program we are producing for the
Discovery Channel. I've been told that the Jules Verne Society in Paris
is the place to go with this request. However, I fear we do not have
time to send a request by mail. Any advice on who owns rights to
portraits of Jules Verne? The photos we hope to use are Jules Verne at
age twenty-five and Jules Verne at age forty-nine. However, we would
happily use any portrait we could get permission to use.
Thanks you kindly for your time.
Best,
Sarah Newton
