I have a book called "Castaways of the Flag" published by Grosset and Dunlap
in 1924 carrying the notice "Copyright 1924 by G. Howard-Watt"

The copyright renewals page indicates that "Castaways of the Flag" copyright
was initially issued to Cranstoun Metcalfe (translator) and renewed in 1952.
While I have no doubt that the book I have was probably translated by
Cranstoun Metcalfe, neither the title page nor anything elsewhere in the
book makes any mention of him.

The question I have is who owns the copyright of the book I havein my hands?
There is no mention in the renewals of anything by G. Howard-Watt, and of
course the original copyright is not on-line so presumably would have to be
checked at LC to see if such were ever issued.
