Dear friends,

Recent discussions about Verne's trip to Scotland and England made me
think of the following.

Many inaccurate statements have been made over the years about Verne's
journeys, e.g. about his visit to the Hebrides discussed by Ian and Bill.
On the other hand, it seems that more and more discoveries are being made
about the details of Verne's trips abroad. Ian is studying the document he
found with details of the trip to England, members of the Dutch JV Society
have reconstructed Verne's goings in the Dutch waters during his cruise to
Copenhague, and in a recent article in the BSJV Volker Dehs provided a map
of the Mediterranean (from Sandorf I think?) with Verne's itinerary marked
on it.

Isn't it time to collect all the facts we know, and put all of Verne's
journeys on one map? I could easily reuse the script I use to plot the
Voyages Extraordinaires (see
http://www.phys.uu.nl/~gdevries/voyages/world.cgi), once I have the exact
details of the itineraries. I could take a map of Europe, or of Europe +
the American East Coast, to see more details.

Your cooperation would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Garmt.
