Hallo to everyone,
first of all I present myself.
My name is Davide Rossi a 28 years old italian philosophy student who is
reading (and re-reading) the works of Jules Verne. I love them and that's
why I'm here in this forum :-)
At the very moment I'm reading The adventures of Hector Servadac, after
having yet read 20.000 League under the sea, From the Earth to the Moon,
Around the Moon and Voyage to the center of the Heart. My intention is to
read at least all the major novel, especially those talking about
extraordinary voyages (are there any which don't? :-)

But now that I'm at a half of Hector Servadac I've a couple of questions..
newbie's questions I think. I've tried to explore the forum in search of
answers, but the theme of these questions is too opened...
Hope some one of you gentlewomen and gentelmen could help me :-)

1- In the books I've read untill now there are very few women and these few
are always secondary characters, more or less... extras. Does it is so in
every Verne's novel? Is there any woman starring in other novel?

2- I've jumped on my seat when I've read about the behavior of Ben-Zuf and
the description of Verne himself about Isaac Hakabut! I repeat I'm only in
the middle of the book, so the situation may change to the end. But why! Why
does Verne is so angry against hebrews? I'm not insinuating anything and I
do not want any flame. My question is only wonder about a anger I didn't
think Verne could have...

Thanks to anyone who could help me, ad majora to the others :-)

Davide Rossi

p.s. excuse me for my bad english... :-(
