You are right... there are even good books with no women (like the
Mysterious Island). There are a few novels where women have an important
role, like expedition Barsak (or whatever the title is), Michael Strogoff...
But Verne never wrote something like this nice typo of yours:

Some will say that Verne was living and writing in the times when political
correctness was not an issue (also see some novels by Agatha Christie and
other writers). But do we live in a better time? For example I happen to
live in Serbia, and what is the cliché about Serbs in movies of the 1990s?
Bad guys, dirty, murderers of women and children... at first I was angry,
then I got used to it... Just imagine that the bad guys are not called Jews,
or Serbs, or Arabs (or whatever else) but Klingons and enjoy the show.
