Hi everyone,

I am currently doing some research on French television adaptations of Verne
that were distributed by the ORTF during the sixties and seventies. Whereas
I found quite a lot of information on the films themselves and read that
there was a sort of 'golden age' of science fiction and the fantastic on
French television screens from 1962 to 1974, I wondered if anyone has any
information or ideas as to why this 'boom' in science fiction occurred when
it did (especially since science fiction literature and film has always been
a marginal genre in France) and whether it was a reaction to the big-budget
Hollywood adaptations of the fifties. I am grateful for any information and
thoughts on the subject.

Thanks,

Françoise Schiltz
