Norm,

A Plunge into Space is a novel by Robert Cromie. It was published (second
edition, I don't know about the first) in 1891 by Frederick Warne and Co.
in London and New York. It has 240 pages. On page 3 is a preface by Cromie
To Jules Verne. The surprise begins when you open page 5: there is another
preface, in English, signed Jules Verne: To my English Readers. It's known
that JV didn't know English. So, is it a translation or a hoax? We have no
document or fact proving that JV was asked to preface this Cromie novel.

A fac-simile edition was published in 1976 by Hyperion in Westport
(Connecticut).

If you need more information, I can scan the cover, the title pages, etc.
