Dao Humeau has calculated that there are 101 French characters
as compared with 120 North Americans, 90 English and 40
Scottish with major or minor roles in Verne's novels.M-H Huet
suggests that 27 Scots have prominent roles. As a resident of
Scotland it is gratifying to know that they tend to feature in heroic
or brave roles.
